Hi! I'm Dave, G4HUP, and ex-DL4MUP. Welcome to my home page, where you'll find out about my amateur radio interests, activities and experiences, including some of my projects and some of the items I've published over the years.
After 5 and a half years living in Germany, I have now returned to the UK to live - thus G4HUP is active again, and DL4MUP is no longer a valid call. I'm back at the old QTH, JO02pc, near the East Coast of England. Although most of my activity tends to be designing, building and experimenting, rather than operating, I have been quite active recently, with stations on 23 and 13cm from a new shack, as well as 6m, 2m and 70cm. Most of my interest is in the higher bands.
Most of my focus is on the microwave bands up to 3cm. I already have good terrestrial capabilities on 23 and 13cm and will be adding higher bands with time.Among my recent projects have been the design, development and construction of a 23cm receive converter for beacon monitoring, as part of a group project I have been co-ordinating to establish a permanent microwave beacon montoring station with data available via the web. This is still in early days yet, but a lot has been learned so far in a year of 3cm operation, which will be applied to otehr bands as we progress. The station is off the air at the moment, searching for a suitable new home!
